Ausgebildet als Juristin verschiebt Cornelia Mittendorfer in ihrer künstlerischen Praxis die Grenzen von Sparten und Medien, teils durch Einsatz wissenschaftlicher Hilfsmittel für ihre Konzepte. Wesentlicher Teil ihrer Arbeit ist die Erforschung der condition humaine, entweder als Untersuchung der eigenen Wahrnehmung oder durch Hinwendung zu  politisch-historischen Themen. In der Analyse von Räumen, ihrer Rolle im Imaginären sowie von Gedächtnis und Erinnerung liegt der Fokus auf der Befragung von Wirklichkeiten, Kontinuitäten und Möglichkeiten, Wahrheitselemente sichtbar zu machen. Schnittstellen von Natürlichkeit und Künstlichkeit untersucht sie in einem dialogischen Projekt. Durch ihre Arbeit zieht sich das Prinzip der Doppelung von analytischen und poetischen Zugängen.

Trained as a lawyer, Cornelia Mittendorfer pushes the boundaries of disciplines and media in her artistic practice, partly through the use of scientific tools for her concepts. An essential part of her work is the exploration of the human condition, either as an investigation of her own perception or through her focus on political and historical themes. In her analysis of spaces, their role in the imaginary, and memory and remembrance, the focus is on questioning realities, continuities and possibilities for making elements of truth visible. She explores the interfaces between naturalness and artificiality in a dialogical project. The principle of doubling analytical and poetic approaches runs through her work.
